Consuming Less

"Businesses are scared of sustainable consumption because they see it as consuming less." Uhh. They're right. With the carrying capacity of the Earth being just enough to provide us all with the standard of living of, say, China, Chad, or Panama... how is sustainable consumption NOT about consuming less?
